Excerpts from Paladin’s Way ~ Alcine

This week’s excerpt.  Enjoy.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000030_00050]With his thirst slaked Gib rose to his feet to check out the area where the noises seemed to be coming from. As he drew nearer to the little pool the sound of playful laughter grew cleared and closer. Gib felt a strange pull toward the little area of calm water. He could see the reflections now, of the trees that surrounded the trail. With each step toward the still area of the stream he felt a peaceful lassitude settle like a warm cloak around him. He would just go to the edge and look into the water. He felt a certainty that if he did everything would all be alright again. There would a peaceful rest for him. Drawing closer and closer to the unmoving water he watched with a detached feeling as the waters turned so black they were mirror-like. Just a few steps now and he would see the answer.

It would be beautiful.

Gib was so focused on his wish to see the beautiful still pool he didn’t see the tawny form streaking straight at him from the tree line, muscles rippling as it closed the distance between them. It was low and fast and big.

If you’re seeing these I hope you enjoy these small appetizers.  Your comments are welcome.  Please feel free to share with any of your friends that love a good story.  I’m excited to be bringing this out.  It’s a big tale with huge characters.  I hope you come to love them as much as I do.

May you and yours be well this day.

Book 2 coming to Amazon this summer.  This week’s excerpt.  Enjoy!

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000030_00050]Rex froze and was staring directly at the opening. A low, menacing growl was coming from somewhere deep in the massive chest of the dog. His ears had flattened back against his head and a ridge was running from the nape of his neck to the end of his tail which was standing straight out behind him. Rex crouched, which made him look a little crablike and was moving sideways out of the direct line of the opening. Gib felt an undefinable awareness that made the hair prickle on the back of his neck. And try as he might he couldn’t tell what it was about this thing that was spooking him. He just had a feeling that there was something waiting behind that plane of light. It was huge and hungry. It could see them and it was waiting.

Patiently.

The release is getting close for the second book in the Paladin’s Way series.  It’s been such a wonderful journey.  I’ve also had help from some super talented people that I hope to introduce at a later time.

I want to share some preview material so here’s the first installment.

Gib felt a slight itch in the center of his back and he knew the Marine in the Camos had already decided where to put the round from the M-16 if it became necessary. He carried it with a familiarity that came from a great deal of time with the weapon. Gib had seen in the young marine’s eyes that he might not want to shoot either of them, but if it came to it he would not hesitate. As much as Gib appreciated the young man’s sincerity, it didn’t do a thing to diminish the itch.
